Overall, I really like the way that the first two magazines are presented in their cover. I think that they look really neat and proffesional, which makes them easy to read. However, I don't really like the third magazine. The background puts me off because makes the stories harder to read.

Key Features:

• A lot of red is used.
• Mid close up or Mid shot as the main picture
• White background
• Large cover line
• Puff in Masthead area
• Barcode in the bottom right corner
• Well lit picture
• Photos or illustrations add to stories mentioned
• Some sort of freebie mentioned
• Black and White are also popular colours
• Price, issue number and issue date are in a corner on the right side.
• Website
• Quite full

Doing this research has made me change my mind about the idea of a freebie which is given away with the magazine. I don't think that I will show the free gift on the main page, as this will take up too much room on the front cover which I need to use for other more important things. However, I think that I will mention on the front cover something which is also included with the magazine. For example I could mention free vouchers, or something which is included inside the magazine and can be cut out when finished with, and taken somewhere to achieve money off.

Also, two out of three of the magazines that I looked at have a white background. In my preliminary task I used a white background, and I found that it made the front cover appear very spacious. Therefore, I won't be using this feature in my magazine.
